RCN Foundation has today opened its autumn round of education and career development grants. This follows the recent launch of their new website which, for the first time, includes an online grant application portal.

The education and career development grants available through the RCN Foundation aim to support those involved in nursing to develop their careers and improve the care they give to patients. Grants are used to undertake postgraduate qualifications and professional training. The Foundation will also be piloting its new RCN Foundation Leathersellers’ Grant, aimed at undergraduate nursing students.

Previously, grant applicants submitted paper applications. The new website will allow users to apply for grant funding online, as well as introduce new donation and regular giving facilities for the Foundation. Current funding calls for research development grants are also now available on the newly launched website.

The RCN Foundation is an independent charity, and nursing staff do not have to be an RCN member to receive their support. The education grants are for up to £5,000 and open to nurses, midwives and nursing support workers who will begin their study between January 2020 and January 2021.

Deepa Korea, RCN Foundation Director said:
“RCN Foundation grants and awards help those involved in nursing to develop their careers and improve the care they give to their patients, as well as support those aspiring towards a career in nursing.

“Last year we had over 500 nursing professionals applying for an RCN Foundation education grant. In response to this, we’re proud of our newly launched website which streamlines the grant process for hundreds of applicants and allows users to save time and money by applying online. I strongly encourage anybody involved in nursing to take the time to see what’s available and apply for an RCN Foundation grant.”
