The RCN Foundation is delighted to announce the establishment of the RCN Foundation  LV=    Education Grant, thanks to a generous donation from LV= General Insurance.

The donation will fund a two-year education grants programme, which will support health care support workers working in health and social care across the UK.

The grants will support training and educational opportunities across a wide range of subjects including: phlebotomy; cannulation; wound care; taking an ECG; and the deteriorating patient.

The programme will open for applications on Nursing Support Workers Day, 23 November 2022, and it is anticipated that the programme will support up to 10 recipients each year.

The donation is part of a wider package of support from LV= General Insurance, which also includes sponsorship of the annual RCN Foundation Impact Awards in 2022 and 2023. The RCN Foundation Impact Awards celebrate nurses, midwives and health care support workers and their professions.

LV= is a long-standing partner of the RCN Group and has also previously generously supported the RCN Foundation in 2020 with a donation for its COVID-19 Support Fund, which supported nursing and midwifery staff adversely affected by COVID-19.

Deepa Korea, Director of the RCN Foundation, said: 'It is fantastic to see the active support that LV= is showing to health care support workers. Their generous support and partnership will enable the RCN Foundation to effectively deliver a programme of education grants to enable health care support workers to develop their practice across health and social care.

'We are delighted to be working with LV= to support those working on the frontline of UK healthcare during a continually challenging period.'

Gavin Stroud, LV='s Head of Regional Team – GI Partnerships said: ‘Here at LV= we’re proud to be long-standing supporters of the Royal College of Nursing and all the great work they do for the sector. I’m also really pleased to support the RCN Foundation with the launch of the LV= RCN Foundation Education Grants Programme, which will help train the next generation of health care support workers. Their work will make a huge difference to people’s lives, and I’m always truly inspired by what they do every day.’
