Here For Life – celebrating nurses and midwifes

Back for its second year, our Here For Life social media campaign starts today! Created in partnership with the Chief Nursing Officers of the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Here for Life is a social and digital media campaign in celebration of the International Day of the Midwife and International Nurses’ Day. To find out more about Here For Life visit their website.

The aim of the campaign is to raise the public’s awareness of the breadth, depth and diversity of the nursing and midwifery professions and the impact that they have on individual patients and clients and on wider society.

The campaign also aims to amplify understanding of the professionalism, knowledge, competence, and skill that nurses and midwives use every day to support life, at every stage, and in a range of clinical and non-clinical settings.

Take part

We have a simple ask for all registered nurses and midwives working in the UK and Ireland – to post a story on social media about your role on Friday 12 May.

Taking part is easy – on the day, share a single image or short video to your social media channels that says something about what you do as a midwife or a nurse and how you support patients, and hashtag it #HereForLife.

Posts shared on the #HereForLife hashtag will be seen by everyone who engages with it and will become part of the official @HereForLife campaign to increase public understanding of nursing and midwifery professions in the UK and Ireland.

This campaign is for everyone – you don’t need to be a nurse or midwife to add a valuable story. Anyone who has experienced a moment where a nurse or midwife has been there for them in times of need can take part by sharing on the #HereForLife hashtag.

We hope that #HereForLife will help make this 12 May extra special, as timelines fill up with all kinds of inspiring, memorable, and unexpected posts about nursing and midwifery.
