Funding Call
For an evaluation of Psychological First Aid (PFA) within the care home sector during COVID-19
The RCN Foundation has launched a funding call for an evaluation of Psychological First Aid (PFA) on the psychological outcomes for nursing teams working within the care home sector throughout the COVID-19 pandemic
Applicants are to develop a multi-centre study across the four countries that should explore the effectiveness of PFA as an intervention to support the psychological wellbeing of care home nursing teams during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The aims of the research are to:
-
identify where PFA is being used;
-
evaluate the effectiveness of PFA on the psychological outcomes of nursing teams working in care homes during COVID 19.
The research must cover all four countries of the UK and include consultation with nurses, nursing associates, student nurses and healthcare support workers working in care homes during the pandemic. The evaluation should be supported by a comprehensive dissemination plan.
Funding available is up to the value of £30,000 and the research should be undertaken in 2021. The Foundation is seeking applications from individuals or organisations to deliver this evaluation over a nine-month period. As this research relates to COVID-19, research teams will need to be able to take the research forward immediately.
The closing date for applications is 11 January 2021. For more information, including details on how to apply, please download information here
