A UK wide campaign is calling for members of the public to show their support for frontline health and social care staff by posting messages of appreciation online – whilst sporting fancy dress.
The Fancy Dress 4 NHS + initiative has seen contributors posting creative videos of thanks, admiration and hope in support of frontline staff working in the NHS and across the health and social care sector, for their determined contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic.
All monies raised from the campaign will support the RCN Foundation Covid-19 Support Fund, which will support nurses, midwives and healthcare support workers across health and social care who are experiencing economic or psychological difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Deepa Korea, RCN Foundation Director says of the initiative "The collective show of support and appreciation through Fancy Dress 4 NHS is a testament to the tireless efforts of the nursing community in keeping families and communities safe. This support will not only help those individuals who may be experiencing personal hardship as a result of COVID-19 but will also help to address some of the psychological implications associated with working on the frontline"
Adam Fillary, campaign manager for Fancy Dress 4 nhs+ said: "Being able to bring a smile to people's faces at the hardest of times, whilst raising money and showing the public support for those giving dedicated support on the frontline has been a privilege. This great cause is a perfect way to give back to where it’s most needed."
